WHO WE ARE

About Peacock Stevens

We are an independent Building Surveying and Project Consultancy. We provide commercial, professional and technical advice across all sectors.

Our 3 principal service streams include Commercial Building Surveying, Project Consultancy and Residential Surveying Services.

We work for Investment Funds, Property Managers, High Street retailers, food store retailers, developers, contractors, charitable trusts and private individuals.

All of our staff backgrounds at senior levels in large multi-disciplinary property consultancies, smaller practices and Local Government Agencies.

With offices in Liverpool and London we serve our clients on a national basis with our surveyors operating throughout the UK, Ireland and the Isle of Mann.

Our philosophy is to provide all of our clients, large or small with professional, pragmatic and commercially aware property advice.

    Our History

The practice was formed in January 2011 by Daniel Peacock and David Stevens having both decided to explore our ambitions of running our own business. Starting out in Northwich, Cheshire, after 12 months we had outgrown our base and decided to venture to a bigger office in a bigger city so in February 2012 we moved to Chester.

After a period of further growth, in May 2013 Stewart Holland joined the company as a Director.

However, in March 2015 we decided to leave behind Chester and our many friends there and moved to our current office in Liverpool.

In September 2015 we opened our London Office to serve the ever increasing workload from our South East client base.

In 2018, after over 30 years of service to the property and construction industry, David Stevens retired.

Our history, whilst short, is varied and our experiences have helped us all develop as individuals but also as a business.

      Director

I am a Chartered Building Surveyor, Director and co-founder of Peacock Stevens & Co.

As a Chartered Building Surveyor I have over 20 years’ surveying experience and carry out work across a diverse spectrum of Building Surveying Services. I have specialist expertise in Neighbourly Matters which includes Party Walls and Rights of Light, Dilapidations, Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments and Project Management and Contract Administration. Working for Investment funds, property managers and occupiers, public sector clients as well as advising individual clients, I have developed a wide range of experience across all sectors.

As well as fee earning work, my time is also occupied with the day to day running of the business.

On a personal level, I am a married father of two young boys. When not balancing my time between work and home life, I run an Under 8’s football team and am currently undertaking my FA Coaching Badges. I try and play golf (literally) as often as I can, and I also follow the fortunes of Liverpool Football Club.

I am also an elected Governor of St. Andrews Maghull Primary School.

      Director

From starting out on development sites from the age of 16, I have been working in the construction industry for over 25 years.  This early introduction to development and construction encouraged me to pursue a career in Building Surveying.

I have been lucky enough to work for a number of clients throughout my professional career, covering a wide range of properties and instruction types.  This has given me a good depth of knowledge and experience across all sectors but I have specialised in Pre-acquisition, Project Management and Contract Administration since joining the practice in 2013.

When not running around after Fred the Pug, my time out of work involves spending time with my partner and young family. I enjoy travelling both at home and abroad and exercise when I can either it be running the Liverpool docks or attending my local boxing club in Salford.  I am currently restoring an old VW T25 campervan which I hope to have ready for camping in the summer.

      Director

I am a Chartered Building Surveyor and a Director of Peacock Stevens & Co.

I have over 30 years’ experience in a variety of roles within the Commercial, residential and retail sectors working within Private Practice, Corporate Property and latterly the Public Sector. I have been involved with the full remit of Building Surveying Services including the management teams of building surveyors, property help desks and controlling property budgets for large companies. My areas of specialist expertise are Condition Appraisal and Defect Diagnosis, Dilapidations, Planned Maintenance, Sustainable Building Performance and Design, Building Insurance Claim Management, Post Occupancy Evaluation and Project Management.

My learning aspirations have led me to complete a Masters degree in sustainable building at Oxford Brookes University and I followed that with a part-time PhD in the Built Environment at Salford University. My research at Salford was concerned with the evaluation of building performance with building condition and trying to establish whether some performance issues should be prioritised alongside condition issues in order to provide an improved occupier experience.

I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two sons, I enjoy walking, particularly in the Lake District and in stark contrast in London where I have an interest in City Churches. I also enjoy travelling and dining out and just about anything to do with the built environment.

      Senior Surveyor

I am a Chartered Building Surveyor and work from an office in Kingston Upon Thames providing support to head office staff where instructions involve property in London and the South.

I joined Peacock Stevens & Co in 2015 after several years working for private practices based in the City of London, London Bridge and the West End, either as a partner or Director of Building Surveying.  At one practice I worked with Daniel Peacock and David Stevens, founding Directors who invited me aboard when retirement age approached.

Having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1972 whilst working in the Surveyors Department at New Scotland Yard, I have had experience over a wide range of building surveying, including contract administration for commercial, industrial and residential improvement schemes, project monitoring, estimating rebuilding costs for insurance purposes, dilapidations and other landlord/tenant matters.  I now deal mainly with party wall disputes and pre-acquisition surveys of a wide variety of residences, whilst also advising on planned maintenance programmes and contract administration of external repair contracts.

My personal interests include music and photography and being involved with historic organisations associated with Southwark and its ancient links with the City of London.

      Office Manager

As Office Manager, I am responsible for all office procedures including accounts and credit control. I find that the nature of our business is such that I am forced to call on my organisational skills to ensure the office runs as smoothly as possible.

I am married with two young boys who keep me very busy!  I enjoy spending time with my family and take great pleasure watching my 8-year-old play football for his TWO teams.  However, when I do get some time to myself I enjoy interior design and obtained my Diploma in Professional Interior Design from the National Design Academy in 2013.
